about

I am a knitted textiles graduate from Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, who is currently studying MA Textiles at the Royal College of Art in London.

Knitting holds so much metaphorical power and I enjoy using that to its advantage, creating and making items that convey a sense of softness and hardness while showcasing the versatility of the knit stitch itself. By using both hand- and machine-knitting, I hope to showcase the versatility of the knit stitch and how the connotations associated with it as a medium give it a power within our wardrobes.

My research looks at how nostalgia links with knit and knitwear, and I enjoy collecting stories of hand knitted garments that people never want to throw away or even wash. The tactile histories in our clothing link so much to the idea of the hand and the craft itself.
